Ilona Rose House Bottom Out

April 17, 2019

The first phase of demolition and enabling works on the site of the former Foyles Bookshop in Soho were completed by Cantillon on 17 April 2019.  Works now move forward under Sir Robert McAlpine to construct the 300,000 sqft mixed used development in the heart of Soho known as Ilona Rose House.

The site now has an impressive 4-storey basement enclosed by Charing Cross Road, Manette Street and Greek Street with all associated enabling and piling works.  No small achievement as one of the deepest office digs in the heart of London today.  This lower level accommodation has already been snapped up under pre-let for future use by post-production film studios.

The next phase will see the emergence of the sub-structure, super-structure and external envelope “shell and core” works.

A “Bottoming Out” ceremony took place on April 17th with our client, Soho Estates Limited, and key members of the professional team with contractors Cantillon and Sir Robert McAlpine.

A time-capsule has been buried to mark this historic milestone.
