CAFE ROYAL
Soho / Mayfair
PROJECT STORY
Café Royal is a luxury hotel in London that enjoys an unrivalled setting, where the elegance of Mayfair, energy of Soho and sophistication of St. James combine. The Quadrant Masterplan was a mixed use development which DML lead, on behalf of Alrov Properties, the design team for the full delivery of a 160 bedroom, 5 star hotel with spa facilities by December 2012.
DML secured an amended Listed Building Consent, reflecting a revised scheme designed by David Chipperfield Architects, with Sir Donald Insall Architects as historic consultants, which requires a number of listed rooms within the Café Royal demise and other adjoining listed areas within the existing structure to be retained or repositioned and refurbished.
Following a fire in the historic Grill Room and an incident of water damage to the spa areas, DML was also responsible for managing all insurance negotiations, and project managed its renovation. The Café Royal opened to the public in November 2012 and DML continues to support the hotel management in new renovations coming for the hotel.
DML's ROLE
DML led the team to implement the works with a full range of design and construction professionals. Our role included client representation at all levels, including legal and lease negotiations.
