UXBRIDGE HIGH STREET
Uxbridge
PROJECT STORY
The project consisted of the redevelopment of a key site totalling 0.95 acres along the high street in Uxbridge, providing a high quality mixed use scheme including build to rent living accommodation within the town centre. In the proposed scheme, high quality architecture will replace the existing buildings, to provide a positive contribution to the setting of the surrounding conservation areas and listed buildings.
The masterplan focussed on the creation of a new public square in the heart of Uxbridge. Located in a prominent site next to the high street and 50m from Uxbridge Underground Station, this new square will enhance the quantum and quality of the public realm offered within the town centre. The design sought to reinstate historic links through enhanced connectivity through the site and surrounding area with the retention of the Cock’s Yard passage and additional pedestrian access points from Belmont Road and Bakers Road.
Commercial uses at ground floor activated the edges of the site and adds activity to the central square. The landscape masterplan was developed to allow for a range of uses within this space, such as provision for external dining, green spaces and informal spaces. The design is currently at pre-app. stage with Planning targeted for the start of 2023.
